Edsel (1992) 114.3x114.3cm (45 x 45")

AWARD: Juror's Award for Painting, Berkeley Art Center Association 12th Annual National Competition, 1996. Geno Rodriquez, Director of the Alternative Museum - Juror.

Berkeley painter John Sheridan's canvases Heaven's My Destination and Edsel are colorfully set adrift in the Freality Zone, a murky realm where fantasy and reality coalesce. Sheridan's hallucinatory '58 Edsel is a particularly artful acid trip: the hyperrealistically rendered vehicle-cum-symbol - the stuff American dreams are made of - floats in a psychedelic red, white and yellow nebula. -- Harry Roche, SF Bay Guardian
